".......Got this tablet from Amazon thro' a Thanksgiving deal. Thus far quite pleased with the device. Before buying, did a bit of research and comparison of this ASUS Transformer TF300T with two other tablets in the same price range - the Toshiba Excite 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. All three were 16 GB. The Samsung model looked more attractive but was less powerful (had 2 CPU cores and a tad slower clock of 1 Ghz). The Toshiba and the ASUS had the exact same CPU (4 core NVDIA CPU) but other slight differences. The Toshiba has a mini-USB port built-in, but the ASUS requires an $18 adapter to get the USB. Other connections, HDMI and SD-slot were identical. However, the Toshiba reviews indicated a color bleed of the edges of its display for some owners, so I just chose the ASUS tablet over the Toshiba. Not that it matters a lot, but the ASUS has a 8 MP rear camera, as opposed to a 5 MP on Toshiba (I think). This ASUS model does have Bluetooth as well. Its been just a couple days since we got the ASUS tablet delivered, and our initial impression is very good. The display is bright and crisp, the sound loud and clear. As soon as it was connected to a WiFi network, the tablet offered to update itself to the latest firmware - after a few minutes of downloading/rebooting, it did update itself flawlessly on the latest firmware as well as latest Android (4.1.1). Built-in apps like Google maps, etc load up just fine. I have downloaded a few soft-copy magazines, some Android apps and games; I haven't run into any issues or annoyances thus far. I haven't figured out why this model labels as "Gold Edition". I don't see any difference compared to other ASUS Transformer TF300T 16 GB models out there in stores that I've seen. Possibly the color shade on the metallic surface on the back might be the only differentiator. Would highly recommend a sturdy tablet cover and screen protector, and I'm now shopping for these on Amazon. Will post any other findings as I play more with this tablet........"
